Ground Transportation from PDX to Corvallis
There is an hourly shuttle service available through Groometransportation Oregon that you can book online to travel from PDX airport, with drop-offs at both the Courtyard Marriott in downtown Corvallis and the Hilton Garden Inn near the OSU campus. The shuttle commute takes approximately 2.5 hours and fares are currently $59-$69 for adults.
Once you arrive in PDX, locate the exit from Baggage Claim closest to carousel 10 out to the roadway. Use the crosswalk to access Island 2. Proceed to the Scheduled Airporter pickup location.
If you plan to rent a car, several rental car companies are available at PDX at Portland Airport Rental Cars; the drive to Corvallis is approximately 80 miles (130 km) and takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, depending on traffic.
Air Travel
Another nearby airport is Eugene Airport (EUG). If you plan to fly to Eugene, the main transportation option is a rental car; the drive to Corvallis is approximately 35 miles (56 km) and takes approximately 50 minutes, depending on traffic.
Things to do beyond CENTRA
We hope you are able to spend some extra time and enjoy what makes Oregon a unique travel destination for food, wine, culture, and outdoors activities! March can still be relatively cold, so especially for outdoor hikes at elevation and near the coast, check the weather and dress appropriately.
Light hikes in Corvallis (Rental car, or Uber/Lyft)
OSU Research Forests (~15 minutes from downtown): there are several trails for light hiking in OSU’s McDonald-Dunn research and demonstration forests and Peavy Arboretum.
Chip Ross Park (~15 minutes from downtown): beautiful views of Corvallis, the Willamette Valley, the Coast Range and the Cascade Mountain.
Corvallis day trips (rental car required)
Mary’s Peak (~45 minutes from Corvallis): weather permitting, a scenic drive up the highest peak in the Oregon Coast Range, with gorgeous views from the peak.
Alsea Falls (~45 minutes from Corvallis): light hike also in the heart of the Oregon Coast Range, surrounded by Pacific Northwest forest, streams, and waterfalls.
Newport (~60 minutes from downtown Corvallis): fishing town vibes with little shops, seafood restaurants, sea lion dock, and coastal lookouts in Newport’s Historic Bayfront, Nye Beach and Yaquina Head Lighthouse.
Wineries: there are many wineries with tasting rooms along the Willamette Valley. Note that tasting room availability is seasonal and not all wineries are open in March, so please check before you consider going. Recommendation: Lumos Winery (~20 minutes from downtown Corvallis)
