Images
- Alt text is included for every image. Alt text must describe essential content, meaning, and context.
- No essential text is only inside an image. If text appears in the image, the same text is included in the caption or alt text.
- Image contrast meets WCAG 2.1 requirements:
- Normal text requires 4.5:1 contrast ratio.
- Large text (18pt+ or 14pt bold) requires 3:1 contrast ratio.
- Images are not overly busy and do not rely on color alone to convey meaning. (WCAG 1.4.1 Use of Color)
Text Content
- Language is clear, simple, and understandable. (WCAG 3.1.5 Reading Level)
- Acronyms or specialized terms are spelled out at first use.
- Post structure avoids long paragraphs and uses logical sequencing.
- No flashing content above three flashes per second. (WCAG 2.3.1 Seizure and Physical Reactions)
Color and Visual Presentation
- Color is not used as the only method to convey meaning or instructions.
- Text has sufficient contrast against its background in graphics, banners, overlays, and story posts.
- Avoid gradients or busy backgrounds behind text.
Keyboard and focus
- Every interactive control is reachable with keyboard only (Tab/Shift+Tab/Enter/Space/Escape where appropriate).
- Focus order follows the visual/logical order.
- Focus indicator is always visible and meets contrast requirements.
- No use of tabindex values greater than 0 (avoid custom tab order).
Links
- Link text clearly states the destination or purpose (“Register here for the webinar,” not “Click here.”)
- Linked documents, PDFs, or websites meet accessibility requirements or include an accessible alternative.
General Compliance
- Content meets WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards.
- Post does not disadvantage users relying on screen readers, zoom, captions, transcripts, or keyboard navigation.
